As well as the use of traditional inspection equipment Cheltenham Tool Company uses a "Brown & Sharp / DEA" Co-ordinated Measuring Machine (CMM). The CMM uses an electronic touch trigger probe to provide accurate measurements of components, the software controlling the CMM verifies that the component is within tolerances by comparing the measurements against CAD models. This software can produce a cloud of points sometimes called a polymesh that can be imported into our CAD system, giving the ability to compare finished products with their design models, resulting in more efficient tool development.
